Thierry Mugler debuted in 1973, and became one of the major forces leading the “power dressing” and “body-conscious” fashions of the 1980s, by using vivid colors and three-dimensional cutting in dress making. His clothes were described as theatrical, and they produced a sexy and powerful image, giving confidence to the women who wore them.
